Materials:  Reclaimed white oak, reclaimed black walnut

Finish:  Natural hardwax oil (prototype finished in poly)

Simple and elegant, Knock is built around the natural character of its thick plinth top, and one of woodworking’s most humble and reliable joints: the half-lap. The contrasting white oak pedestal incorporates subtle enlivening details such as angled feet, varied roundover radii, and “pillowed” corners at the leg. Knock’s proportions and overall character can vary widely with the size and nature of the chosen tabletop slab.  This design is inspired by the work of George and Mira Nakashima, and is made by hand, largely with hand tools.
