E8111 CHAIR

E8111 CHAIR

Materials:  Wood, nylon cable

Client:   Designed for self

Role:   Designer

Year Completed:  Unbuilt work

The E8111 chair is one of two unbuilt furniture designs created in 2011 (the naming conventions allude to Eileen Gray’s E-1027 villa). Both designs are meant to be easily fabricated from laminated flat stock plywood, or, with a little modification, solid wood. Additionally, E8111 is made from pieces which can be fabricated with fairly simple shop tools such as a jigsaw, table saw, and chop saw, then flat-packed. E8111 is intended for use as a lounge chair, with a semi-reclined back, comfortable seat-depth, and plenty of flex built into the materials.
